Coastal Britain
The Bighton Ghost
Two years since I've photographed this Pier - and more has been taken by the sea. This long exposure photograph is of the Pier which was designed and engineered by Eugenius Birch and originally opened in 1866. It was closed in 1975 because of safety concerns and granted Grade I listed status in 1982. Arsonists struck in 2003 with the fire stripping the structure down to its metal skeleton you can see here. The mistiness of this long exposure image adds to the drama of the scene.
